Advantage of Immunotherapy in Bladder Cancer

Bladder cancer is a common disease, especially in men in Türkiye. One out of 26 men in our country has bladder cancer.
Every year, 9000 people in Türkiye and 175000 people in Europe diagnosed with bladder cancer.
However, according to experts, bladder cancer is not known enough, that’s why treatment is delayed.
Koç University, chairman and professor of the Urology Department, Dr. Tarık Esen states that Bladder Cancer is the fourth ranked cancer in men, but it is not mentioned. The most important cause of the bladder cancer is smoking. It is crucial that any bleeding from bladder should be evaluating by doctor, without waiting for the second one.
Almost all of the tumors, detecting in bladder, are malign but they have different grade and stage. Dr. Esen also claims that main goal is protecting the bladder in which bladder muscle is not invaded by tumor. Unfortunately, we are losing the bladder if the muscle is invaded
IMMUNOTHERAPY HAS LESS ADVERSE EFFECT
Hereafter, Immunotherapy is also used in advanced bladder cancer. Immunotherapy is used in chemotherapy resistant and recurrent bladder tumors.
Prof. Esen says that immunotherapy aims to recover function of the immune system cells that fighting with the tumor cells. Also, its adverse effect profile is more suitable and reliable.
This treatment modality is applied orally and strengthen the immune system in order to struggle with the tumor cells more effectively.
