Multidisciplinary Online Prostate Cancer Course with Live Robotic Surgeries, 4 December 2020 Friday

Our course on 4 December 2020 started with the talk by Prof. Bengi Gürses from the Department of Radiology on ”Multiparametric prostate MRI for urologists”. Thereafter, Prof. Barbaros Çil from Inerventional Radiology gave a talk on ”Prostate biopsy methods”. Prof. Yakup Kordan from the Department of Urology gave a talk on ”MR fusion prostate biopsy” and performed a live case of MR fusion biopsy explaining the details.

Thereafter, Prof. A. Erdem Canda performed an onlive live case of bilateral neurovascular bundle sparing robotic radical prostatectomy applying Martini-Klinik Neurosafe method using Da Vinci xi dual console surgical robot in the operating room. ICG guided bilateral pelvic lymph node dissection was also performed on this patient. Before starting to perform ICG guided lymphadenectomy, Prof. Barbaros Çil from Interventional Radiology Department injected ICG into the prostate transperineally under TRUS guidance. At the beginning of the surgery, preparation of the operating room and surgical robot, trocar placement, robot docking and instruments used were presented to the participants. Trainees also had the chance of observing frozen section analysis of the prostate by our uro-pathologists Prof.Dr.Dilek Ertoy Baydar and Dr.Ayşe Armutlu. Frozen result was reported as negative surgical margins and both neuromuscular bundles were preserved completely. During the course, participants asked online questions that were answered by the lecturers and Dr.Canda during live surgery.
