Multidisciplinary Online Prostate Cancer Course with Live Robotic Surgeries, 16 June 2021

Our course on 16 June 2021 started with the talk by Prof. Bengi Gürses from the Department of Radiology on ”Multiparametric prostate MRI for urologists”. Thereafter, Prof. Barbaros Çil from Inerventional Radiology Department gave a talk on ”Prostate biopsy methods”. Dr. Okan Falay from the department of Nuclear Medicine gave a talk on ”Ga68 PSMA PET CT evaluation with case studies for urologists”. Prof. Yakup Kordan from the Department of Urology gave a talk on ”MR fusion prostate biopsy” and presented a video of MR fusion biopsy explaining the details of this technique. Prof. M. Derya Balbay gave a talk on ”Limits of extended pelvic lymph node dissection during robotic radical prostatectomy”.  Prof. Derya Tilki who is our visiting faculty from Martini-Klinik in Germany gave an online talk on”Place of radical prostatectomy in high risk prostate cancer”. Prof. A. Erdem Canda performed an onlive live case of bilateral neurovascular bundle sparing robotic radical prostatectomy applying Martini-Klinik Neurosafe method using Da Vinci xi dual console surgical robot in the operating room. ICG guided bilateral pelvic lymph node dissection was also performed on this patient. Before starting to perform ICG guided lymphadenectomy, Prof. Barbaros Çil from Interventional Radiology Department injected ICG into the prostate transperineally under TRUS guidance. At the beginning of the surgery, preparation of the operating room and surgical robot, trocar placement, robot docking and instruments used were presented to the participants. Preoperative multiparametric prostate MRI images were converted to 3D by our engineer colleague Mr Sertaç Fatih Aksoy (Surgimap3D) and transferred to Da Vincixi surgical robot via TilePro that were used as a guide by Prof. Canda during robotic surgery (tumor navigated robotic surgery). Trainees also had the chance of observing frozen section analysis of the prostate by our uro-pathologist Dr.Ibrahim Kulac. Surgical margins were reported as negative. During the course, participants asked online questions that were answered.
